ONTARIO ASSOCIATION OF FIRE EDUCATORS

FPW 2021 Planning Webinar

It’s been a while since we’ve seen each other and we hope you’ve had a good summer, had a chance to take some time off, spent time with family and for yourself…and now it’s time to jump right back in to the busiest time of year! 😉
As many of us are feverously working away on Fire Prevention Week plans for this year, we thought we’d offer you NFPA’s public education representative for Canada, Laura King to help out with that planning. We’re happy to partner with Laura again this year for a ‘Fire Prevention Week’ themed session.

Date: September 9, 2021
Time: 9:30 – 11:00 am
Cost: FREE
Location: Virtual

The theme for Fire Prevention Week 2021 is Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety, a critical message that seems simple but involves complex factors; this webinar will help you help people in schools, workplaces and neighbourhoods understand the sounds of the smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, and know what actions to take. We’ll also explore new smoke-alarm technology.

Laura will walk us through NFPA’s abundance of resources for FPW 2021, provide options for virtual or hybrid events and activities, and invite questions and conversation about strategies and tactics for FPW 2021.

Please click here to register. We’ll see you on the 9th!

Welcome to the OAFE

Dear Member:

As the President of the Ontario Association of Fire Educators (OAFE), I am delighted to have you as a member of the OAFE. Your dedication to fire safety education and prevention is the cornerstone of our organization’s success.

Our association is committed to creating and providing modern, effective public education resources for the fire service and the general public. Your role in this mission is invaluable, as you are the front-line educators who bring these resources to life in our communities across Ontario.

This year, we’re excited to announce several initiatives that will enhance our collective impact:

    • Professional development opportunities: We’re arranging and facilitating professional and personal development programs to keep you at the forefront of fire safety education.

    • Collaboration with partners: We’re strengthening our partnerships, including our ongoing collaboration with the OMFPOA and NFPA for our quarterly webinar series.

    • New board members: We’re thrilled to welcome three new board members who will bring fresh perspectives to our organization.

    • Upcoming events: Mark your calendars for our annual conference, where we’ll share best practices, network, and learn from industry experts.

    • Program of the Year: We’re excited to announce the return of the Program of the Year award, recognizing outstanding fire education programs across Ontario.

Remember, our strength lies in our collective knowledge and experience. I encourage you to actively participate, share your ideas, and collaborate with your fellow members.

As we move forward, let’s continue to work together to create safer communities across Ontario. Your passion and expertise are making a real difference in fire prevention and public safety education.

Thank you for your commitment to OAFE and to the safety of all Ontarians. Together, we’re building a safer future.

Shanyn Godward, OAFE President
